COMPUTER USE AGREEMENTComputer Rules for Pupils
Treating the network with respect: Pupils MUST NOT damage, disable or otherwise harm the operation of the computers, or intentionally waste resources.
Passwords: Pupils MUST NOT disclose their password to others, or use passwords intended for the use of others.
Treating others with respect: Pupils MUST NOT use computers in any way to harass, harm, offend or insult others.
Program installation: Pupils MUST NOT install, or attempt to install, programs of any type on a machine, or store programs on the computers, without permission. Likewise, pupils should NOT attempt to change the set-up of a program in any way.
System security and hacking: Pupils MUST NOT attempt to bypass the security in place on the computer systems.
Accessing other peoples' work: Accessing, copying, removing or altering other peoples' work, or attempting to alter the settings of computers, is NOT acceptable use of the equipment.
Games and Music: Games (other than educational games) or music are NOT part of the curriculum network and are NOT allowed.
Internet Rules for Pupils
Using the Internet for study purposes: The pupil must access the Internet only for study purposes or for authorised and supervised activities.
Accessing obscene or offensive materials: Pupils MUST NOT use the internet to obtain, download, send, print, display or otherwise transmit or gain access to materials which are unlawful, obscene or offensive.
Downloading files and cookies from the Internet: Pupils MUST NOT download files or cookies without permission.
Buying and selling: Pupils MUST NOT enter into any financial arrangements or attempt to buy or sell goods or services of any kind through the Internet.
Copyright: Pupils are expected to respect the work and ownership rights of people outside the school as well as of pupils and staff. This includes abiding by copyright laws.
Chat: Pupils MUST NOT attempt to use chat activities on the Internet, except when instructed to, under direct supervision in Modern Language or English lessons.
E-Mail: Pupils must learn and practice how to use e-mail or other electronic communication methods sensibly, politely and respectfully. They may then use it for study purposes when they have direct permission by the member of staff concerned.
Personal information: Pupils MUST NOT give out personal information such as their address or telephone number to those whom they contact through the Internet.
Sanctions & Punishment
Violation of any of these rules will result in withdrawal of access to ICT resources.
Additional action may be taken by the school in line with existing practice regarding inappropriate behaviour. Back to top
