I have just left Farnborough school and i really liked it. the teachers aren't as bad as they seem, you should ask as many questions as you can while you are at the school, because it all changes when you get to college. Art students need to really get their heads down, because by the time the exam comes, you won't know where you are! be sure to stick with the subjects you pick as well, unless you absolutley hate them, in which case, swap them early in the year, not half way through.

Thanks Farnborough!

I was at Farnboro' from 86-91 and despite the several hiccups I had with some of my fellow students (who liked to use me as a punchbag in the dinner queue), I thoroughly enjoyed my tenure. You might not have known it, me being the one who consistently didn't turn in any homework! I did like all of the staff, honest! I even remember names! Now a professionally retired consultant in information technology and business administration, I'm looking into possibilities with immersive online environments such as Second Life to continue in the same fields. Anyone who was in 1C(oates)/2C/3-5B(ean) who'd like to catch up, my email should be showing (if not it's jmthelostpacket@googlemail.com) or a better bet is to find me on Facebook using the same email.

I must admit, for the 4 years I attended Farnborough it had to be one of the best schools I had been to and I would highly reccommend it to anybody who is looking for a great education, the teachers are fantastic and everything that happens is dealt with in a great matter of importance.

2005-2009 best years of my life I hope it pays off on results day

Hi this is Lewis I'm in year 8. Farnborough is a great school and I would reccomend it to any parent.
It is the best secondary school in Nottingham by far. Farnborough is full of lovely teachers e.g. Mr Johnson or Mr Frettwell.
My sister is going to be coming to this school and I know for a fact she will love it .

Hi all! I left June 1999, To go south nottingham college, where I met the love of my life. Im now married with two kids and I own my own home. I worked for an I.T company as a security officer. I'm currently out of work, after becoming disabled in car crash I had traveling to work three years ago.
Any way keep up the good work building the solid foundation that prepares Clifton's youth for the future!

Hi guys, remember me? ;o) I was at Farnborough from 1995 – 2000

I am currently working for Nottinghamshire County Council in the Road Safety department, I am still in Clifton but am moving to Liverpool this weekend which I can’t wait for because I’ve always wanted to get out of Clifton, and I have the added bonus of moving in with my boyfriend. I have no children yet and no intention of having any for a few years.

I just wanted to thank all the teachers who put up with my shocking behaviour and kept me on track, I know I was awful and I want to take this opportunity to apologise. I would also like to thank Mr Bishop for putting up with so much from me over the years, most teachers gave up on me but Mr Bishop never did, so Thank you Mr Bishop and thank you to all my other great teachers.

I believe that if it wasn’t for people like Mr Bishop, Mr Coupe, Mrs Terry etc who put up with me for all those years, I could have ended up on the dole with 14 kid’s ha-ha! I am lucky; I had teachers who gave me the chance to have a job I am proud of and a life that makes me happy.

Thank you.

Natalee Watson.

P.S. For anyone wanting to get in touch my email and msn is natalia@stylingandmodifeduk.co.uk and I do have face book.

My maiden name is Inger. I was School Captain at Farnborough School when it was a girls school. I left in 1962, so I am one of the oldies !!!!! I remember several teachers, including Mr.Brida who taught Maths,Miss Buttery who taught Cookery and Mrs Lane -Hall who was a superb English teacher. I was involved in the Drama group and the sports club, including the netball team. I am now living in Norfolk and although I am over 60 I am still working as a nurse I would love to hear from anyone who remembers me,and I would be interested in my name being put on the hall of fame list. Hi. Im currently in Year 8 at the moment. I can remember when I first started Farnborough in 2007, I wasnt actually scared, I was pretty excited. I met my tutor, my teachers, my year leader etc etc. After a few weeks I knew my way around and had met lots of new friends. I loved going from lesson to lesson instead of staying in the same class day after day and I began to feel really grown up. My first year flew by and the year drew to a close in July and I walked out of the school gates and into the six week holidays realising I would be in Year 8 soon. The six weeks ended after a while and it was the day I went back to school. I met my new tutor and teachers, feeling as if I had just started Year 7 all over again, but I got used to the fact that I was really in Year 8 and soon I will be in Year 9 choosing my subjects and doing my SATS. Then Year 10, then Year 11 when I do my GCSES and it all ends and I go to college and get a good job hopefully.
I hope my second year at this school is as good as the first and I hope my little sister settles in when she moves up in 2009.
Thanks Farnborough :)

I attended Farnborough School between 1972-1977 and although I didn't realise it at the time really enjoyed my time there. Never really got the remark on my leaving card from Mr Murray which went "There was a little girl who had a liitle curl right on the middle of her fore head, when she was good she was very very good and when she was bad she was marvelous". I am now living in Taunton with four children and three grandchildren. A reunion for this year would be cool, if anyone is interested please drop me an E-Mail. maxine_adams@live.co.uk

Hello - I was a pupil at Farnborough from 1993-1998. i had Mr Walker as a tutor and i remember he seemed to think that he was a spitting image of Mel Gibson - Sorry Mr Walker Mel Gibson you weren't!!! But you were an awesome tutor and really helped me through some tough years of bullying!!!

I have to give credit to Mr McKee - he was a great teacher but very misunderstood whilst I was a pupil - I finally got to see the nice Mr McKee on my last day when I picked up my GCSE results. But encouraging me to do a Maths A Level was a bad idea - i got an E!!!! Oh Well.

And Mr Rosenberg was the best science teacher EVER!!! Thank you for finally making science fun when you arrived!!

After having moved away from Notts to go to Durham Uni, I lived in the north east for 8 years. I'm now back in Notts working in supported housing with a vulnerable client group.

I have to say that the uniforms are much better now guys - why couldn't you bring in the blue BEFORE i left rather than leaving me with Brown and Gold (IT WAS YELLOW) memories.

Take Care Guys

Emma

I attended Farnborough from 1986-1991 and it was one f the best times of my life. The teachers were great and compared to how schools are run now, we had a pretty stress free time. I remember Farnborough Follies, Lunch Time Discos and great teachers, Mather, Ridge, Blackburn, Knight. Wherever I am in the world, I fondley remember how far I have travelled and where I have come from. Still a Clifton Girl at heart !!!!

Hi all, I left Farnborough back in 2006. I'd just like to thanks Mrs Terry, Mr Trembirth (who I believe has left Farnborough now) and my tutors, Mrs Tuckwood and Mrs Powers for being so supportive when I was at Farnborough. I have now just completed my second year at college and I hope to go back for a third year before looking for work.
So thank you to those teachers for never giving up on me

Farnborough School seems to still be taking steps in the right direction. I loved every minute of it and still currently enjoy the GCSE maths work I tutor some of your students on. I'm presently at the University of Nottingham Studying Mathematics and achieved a First in my second year with one/two years remaining. Mr Mckee, Mr Coupe and Ms Jones were a big help for me.

I attended Farnborough Comp (as was) back in 1986 until 1991. I remember teachers like Mr Mather, Mr Knight, Mr Hawtin and so on....
Loved it, and think it's a shame we've never had any kind of reunion... can it be arranged?
Working as an Accountant now - teachers who remember me won't be surprised!
Keep up the good work.

Hi I was really scared moving up to year 7 I thought it was going to be really different and hard but it has turned out to be fun and easy. I don't think any year 6's or year 5's should be scared because there is always somebody to talk to so, that's why I really like secondary school.

I left Farnborough about 3 - 4 years ago. Mr Maloney was my tutor back then! I did enjoy it a lot, I may not have shown it all the time! Sport was my favourite and I eat sleep and play football! I?m still playing for the great Clifton Allwhites. When I left school it was time to buckle down because it opens your eyes to the real world. I currently work for the NHS now and officially own my own 3 bedroom house so I?m not doing to bad at 19! I want to say thank you to all the teachers that helped me along the way, your doing a great job and keep up the good work!

I am a year 8 pupil at Farnborough, and I really enjoy being part of the school community!
When I first moved up to secondary school, I must admit that I felt a little nervous at first, but I soon settled in, found my way around easily, and I made alot of new friends.

I'm proud to say I'm from Farnborough School.

P.S I hope that the new year sevens are settling in well!

Hello. I left Farnborough in 1985. I was a bit lazy and distracted in my last year at school and more interested in leaving school than being there. It's a big world out there and a good education is the foundation of success. Since leaving school I've travelled the world and built a career as an insurance loss adjuster. Believe me, you're lucky at school so enjoy it while you can.

Hi. I attended Farnborough when it was a Bilateral Grammar School in 1956 to 1961 and catered for boys and girls. We had some really good teachers, Miss Cullen travelled from Newark every day - she was Deputy Head, Mr Chalkley was a Science Teacher, Mrs Seath (later Mrs Chalkley) was an absolutely excellent music teacher and Mrs Lane Hall was a brilliant English Teacher. We also had Mr Sturtivant who was a really good Maths teacher and Miss Buttery who taught cookery. In the late 50's we were taught country dancing, ballroom dancing, tennis, athletics, hockey, rounders etc on top of the usual curricullum. We also put on plays including Shakespeare, concerts and had an annual fashion parade - usually items made in needlework lessons. I was in the school choir which used to win loads of cups at the Nottingham Music Festival every year. We also entered the Llangollen Music Festival and came 7th on the first time of entering. I can also remember going to "Let the Children Sing" which was a competition and held at the BBC Radio Studios at Bournville.
I had a really good education there but like most children and with hindsight could have done much better. However I had a good career at a Bank and have now retired.
Congratulations on your website.

I went to farnborough and left 3 years ago. I just want to say to any of the pupils enjoy school whilst you can because once you leave it gets hard. A lot of the teachers always used to tell us that but I don't think anyone really listened, me being one of them. You can lose touch with most your freinds so enjoy their company while you can. I never really went to school and lost out on most my child hood including not going to my exams, making it harder to get a decent job. Yes you have got college but the better you do at school the better you'll do at college don't take your time for granted.

Dear Farnborough Team
As "head girl/66school captain" in 1966, am thrilled to see that the tradition of the school continues to thrive.
Currently serving as a director of a national health foundation in Los Angeles, following a long and successful career in Paris and Los Angeles in business and medical journalism, I would like to humbly be part your "hall of fame" in order to motivate other young folks who came from challenging early background-just like me.

Hi everyone! Just thought I'd drop a message. The school seems to have change so much since I was there (1997 - 2002).

I'd like to thank all of my teachers for such a great time when I was there, it was an enjoyable experience.

I'm now working at an investment bank down in London on my placement year at University (Nottingham Trent, Clifton Campus) and am thoroughly enjoying it. I am working in the IT infrastructure department, and my team helps maintain over 700 servers.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the IT staff, as this wouldn't have been possible without taking GNVQ ICT, and then AVCE ICT at college (leading onto computer science at University).

Once again, thanks to all the teachers during my time at Farnborough.

P.S, Mr. Bishop, I understand you still have my graphics work on display.. :D

Cheers,
Ryan.

Writing as a parent. The school has been great for my daughter. Her confidence has grown. She seems to have a great relationship with staff who motivate her and make her believe in herself. Thank-you. My younger daughter starts in September and is looking forward to it. I hope she does just as well as her sister.

I like the news and I like to hear the good news about the children who attend the school.
It helps the children who are going to come to the school and be in year 7.
I have seen the school grounds and I have seen the teachers.
My best teacher there is Miss Russo the french teacher.
The people at the school who can draw like they are proper artists, tell them that I like the art work.
Ask them if they could tell me a few tips about the details of the drawings.
I can't wait to come to your school, but I am a bit scared because I will be one of the smallest children there.

Hey, I went to school a couple of years ago now, moved onto college at Bilborough and found it to be extremely fun. I will always miss the school it has a huge impact on you. and I wish I had tried a lot harder at all of my subjects instead of coasting. I'm starting to feel the pressure now!

I went to Farnborough from 1990-1995. They say that education is wasted on the young so it's so good to hear pupils really enjoying going to school and doing so well. I really enjoyed school too but always wish I tried that little bit harder, ho hum. I've still got all my old school reports and they make interesting reading, mostly about always talking (some things never change).
Anyway, A Cyber Café?!! We ate our lunch in the school hall after queuing for an eternity at the drinks machine hee hee. Teresa.

Hi to all all at Farnborough school.
I was at Farnborough School from 1991 to 1995. The school is looking a lot better now than when I was there. It is still nice to see that some of the old teachers are still there. I pleased the see Mrs. Smeeton is still there. She was a great tutor and a great teacher. I am glad Mr Fowkes is still there too he is a great teacher too. I still wish I could go back now. It is a great school. The uniform looks a lot better now than it did. Keep all the good work up. From Shaun.

Hi I was at Farnborough from 1991-1995. I am pleased to see that Miss Ridge and Mr Fowkes are still teachers there, is Mr Coupe still there? lol, he was the best science teacher. I always think about my school days and wish that I studied harder and never played truant. I am also glad to see that the uniform has changed, looks a lot better. Anyways, study hard and stay out of trouble, it doesn't get you any where. Love to Miss Ridge, Norma

Hi to everyone at Farnborough School. How the look has changed and for the better. I was at farnborough 1983-85 and loved every minute. My tutor was Miss Leigh. I did think the uniform was unusual but now its very smart. Well to all the teachers past and present well done for a fab school.

I was at Farnborough from 1971 - 1976. I was a shy young thing when I entered the school, but in my final year, I became vice house captain and a prefect! The confidence I gained at Farnborough helped me through my life in the middle east, where I became a teacher to 6 year olds. I later traveled around the States and Europe. I'm now back in my home town and I love it!

Just want to say how much we enjoyed Farnborough over the past 5 years. Farnborough was an unforgettable memory and will stay with us forever. The Prom was unbelievebly brilliant, we will never forget the teachers attempt at dancing. We will stay in touch and will come back for future visits

p.s Believe it or not we actually made friends with MOST of our teachers.

Wow the website is great! I left Farnborough in 2002 and so much has changed! The uniform and the staff. Slighty annoyed that Farnborough changed the uniform after I left. I had to put up with 5 years of Brown and Yellow Ha ha! Now that I have left the school I really miss it, it was the best time. Its only after you leave that you appreciate everything that the teachers did for you. Thank you to all my teachers throughout 1997-2002. I was really pleased with my GSCE results ( I thought I picked up someone else's) I now work with solicitors and hope to become one, one day. I dont think I could of got where I am today without the help and support of the teachers. So thank you very much Farnborough.

Was never that cold although it felt a bit nippy while riding my bike to school along Brooksby Lane and Farnbrough Road. I am now working at a school library, my dream even way back then. Thanks for the memories.

Hi everyone just want to say that I'm starting to miss school a lot. After a very interesting chat with a friend of mine on a bus to college I discovered actually how amazing Farnborough was and the impact it has made on my life. I want to thank all of my teachers for the support they gave me. I'm currently studying English Language, psychology, sociology and law at High Pavement. Farnborough really should have a 6th Form. I would definitely want to go to it!!

Hey everyone I am in year 11 at Farnborough now and have had the best time! I really don't want to leave but all the best things at some point come to an end! I will really miss Farnborough and MOST of the teachers! Some I won't miss a bit (but not going to say names). All the staff go out their way to make sure all the pupils are happy. I used to be bullied but that stopped when I told the teachers, they are the best and I'll miss everyone. xoxox

Hello to everyone. I went to Farnborough last year but unfortunately all good things have to come to an end. I had the best time at Farnborough and all the teachers made it so much fun. There wasn't a day that went by where I didn't want to learn new things. I would like to thank all the teachers at Farnborough and I would like to thank Mr McKee in particular with helping me in my maths exam. Thank you. I enjoyed my time at Farnborough and I'm sure many more will after me, keep up the good work.

HI!! Just looked through the staff list and realised there's lots of new people, and some of my teachers are missing!!! Only left 2 years ago and already everthing's changed!! Must say though the uniform is looking much better than ours did!! glad it finally got changed, even though it was too late for us to benefit!! Just want to say to all the pupils, if you get the chance to go to Dieppe, do it (i'm just assuming that that still goes on). Had the BEST time, especially shopping in Paris! And also thanks to all my teachers, got the best support and encouragement which helped me get through school and (hopefully) will soon be starting a course to be teaching myself (although I'm not that brave so mine will be primary school!!) Good luck to everybody and all the best in the future. Kate xXx

Well what can I say. I left in 1979 and I see that there are still one or two of the staff still there who were there when I left. It sure makes me me feel old and maybe them even older, especially as I now have kids of my own at school. It was a great time we had there then and I hope it carries on to be the same for many years to come.

So this place is a "Technology College" now? I have absolutely no idea what that means but it sounds absolutely terrifying - I'm pretty sure I would have been aghast at the idea back in 1995. Nice website, good to see so many familiar names on the staff directory (a big "hey ya!" to Messrs Blackburn, Bishop, Arkell & Knight.) Had a mixed time at Farnborough. It's always difficult to fit in when you move to a new school but all teachers supported me and made me feel welcome when I needed all the encouragement I could get my grubby little hands on. (Oh, and Mr Blackburn - got my English degree from Kings back in 2000, spent a few years temping before finally breaking out and trying my luck as a freelance film journo last year. I'm pretty sure you had something to do with that, so ta very much.)

In order to encourage/motivate our current pupils, I am trying to establish a 'Hall of Fame' type notice board, with brief information about past pupils who are successful and happy in their jobs. Any ex-pupil who would like to contribute, please contact Miss Ridge at school with brief details of:
When you were at school
The job you are in
Your name (and photo if you would like)

Thank you - Miss Ridge

I was at Farnborough the year the first boys were there in 1974. It was a great school then. Can anyone tell me if it is the same Mr Wells who was the science teacher back in the old days? By the way, the uniform sounds much better than it was in those days. I was in Haddon house can anyone remember?

Just like to say that I enjoyed the site and look forward to returning to see any new stuff.

Wondered if you'd like to put a link onto another ik.com site - our Drama Department at Mill Hill School in Ripley, Derbyshire?

Your students might like to see what other schools might be doing and there are useful links and documents to download too.

Best wishes to all students and staff!
